Prison Break (Sort Of): Escaped Convict Still At Large

OCCforestwork.png A minimum-security forest work camp near Forks was under lockdown this week, after one of its inmates walked off into the woods. The lockdown has been lifted, but 27-year-old Darby R. Maguire has still not been found, according to the Department of Corrections.

The facility, which is near Forks, actually sounds pretty sweet. According to their website, Olympic Corrections Center, which is only an option for in-state inmates within 4 years of release, boasts vocational programs in toy making and dog training, as well as partnerships with local organizations and non-profits, like the Forks Museum. Located in the middle of the luscious Olympic National Park, the facility is in prime camping ground, and probably always smells like old-growth trees.

The escapee, who was arrested for assault and robbery in Whatcom County, was last seen heading out for "recreation time." He had only been in the facility a week, after being transferred from a traditional corrections center. He's described as looking like a lot of other men out camping in Olympic National Park right now: a "6-foot-tall white male with brown eyes and short brown hair." Civilians who see him (or someone who could be him) are encouraged to 911.

A note to the prisoner: we're not sure if you've had a chance to pick up a newspaper lately, but the outside world isn't really all that hot right now. Our advice? Prison has job security. Give camp a chance.Turn yourself in and go back to training dogs and making dolls.

Of course, he'll likely face an additional sentence and won't be eligible for forest fun camp when he's recovered.
