Survey Time: Seattle PD Actually Wants to Know What You Think

The last few years have been a little dicey for the boys in blue. There have been a considerable number of shooty, stompy, punchy public relations blips that have...well, they haven't gone unnoticed but the citizens of Seattle.

And while Chief John "Cookieduster" Diaz's handling of many (or all) of the situations involving an officer and, say, an automatic weapon being left on the trunk of a car, are getting quite a bit of flak, the fact is that most police officers who respond to your bike getting stolen or you car getting backed into (hi, Officer Hope!) are pretty decent men and women.

In fact, a lot of them are trying desperately to get back onto the public's good side, one stop or stump opportunity at a time. They put in some unpaid overtime to get their ears bent by neighbors this past week during Night Out. They've kept their Blotter updated to let the public know what they're up against. They held hands with actual gay people in the Pride Parade. They went on that Tweet frenzy to show how much work they do (or how quickly any one agency can get unfollowed, depending on who you ask).

Now, they want to know what you think. Are they a billy-club bully's club? Or are they generally decent, with a few bad eggs? Whatever you feel about the Seattle Police Department, now's the time to speak up and let them know.

Take the SPD survey here. Because while complaining about SPD in the comments of various local news outlets and telling your friends over your 6th pint about how ruthless the Man is, taking a survey is actually a much better way to let your voice be heard.
