Plan Your Route: Weekend Traffic Report
While there are no at-home sporting events to snarl SoDo this weekend, and construction seems to have come to a halt for the most part. But Seafair will likely do a pretty good job of delaying some transit and angering some drivers.
The main areas of congestion predicted for this weekend are the areas aroun I-90, Judkins Park, and Genesee Park, for Umojafest and Seafair, respectively.
Saturday:
- In the Central District, Umojafest will be underway all weekend. However, on Saturday, a parade will close some streets, including 23rd between Union and Judkins Park. The parade is scheduled for noon.
- If you're going to be out on Whidbey Island, be aware that one lane of SR 20 will be closed at Arnold Rd. will be closed from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., which could cause significant delays. Alternate routes are advised.
All Weekend:
- As we reported earlier this week, the Blue Angles will be practicing and performing all this weekend--and they'll be using the I-90 bridge as a runway. The bridge will be closed in both directions to all traffic (that includes bikes and buses) from 12:45 a.m. until around 3:00 p.m. each day.
- Additionally, Seafair will be taking over the area around Genesee Park and Lake Washington in South Seattle, with road closures and blockages related to the hyrdo races. A full map of the closures is available here.
