And the Space Needle's Big Announcement is....

They're going to send a person into Space.

Seriously.

Or at least, that's what they announced. To be honest, we're kind of amazed by the hugeness of this announcement, and will remain dubious until we actually see someone in space. But we're not that surprised. Ever since that whole pride flag debacle went down, the Space Needle has been desperately trying to get back on the good graces of their Facebook fans. Last Monday, in a clever PR push to draw attention and get the masses salivating, the structure began to dangle a secret in front of its fans:

...offering daily reminders that it had something to reveal, and tempting its followers with messages like this:

...and who could forget this?

Finally, this morning, the Needle let its foaming-at-the-mouth fans know what it was hiding. And what it was hiding was that for its 50th anniversary, it wants to send one lucky fan on a suborbital space flight, for free.

According to their Facebook page, the entry form goes live on their website at 10 a.m., following a press conference. To all entrants: good luck, and godspeed.
