Can't Miss It: The Weekend

PIED PIPER: You may remember us talking about a mob of artists walking through the city, terrorizing the public with affectionate wonder and spontaneous creation. Well, tonight they're in Duvall. If you're up for a little travel, you can meet up with them at McCormick Park for an evening of place-based sound by Seattle Phonographers Union and Hollow Earth Radio, a cappella performance by The Bicycle Choir, and grass braiding. Be careful you don't get caught up in their slippery melodies and follow them off into nature.
Friday 8:00 p.m. // McCormick Park // FREE

BY TORCHLIGHT: The annual Torchlight Parade once again will take over the better part of the downtown streets Saturday evening and, once again, patient thrillseekers will settle themselves along the route much much earlier. Why wouldn't you? For 62 years, the Torchlight has been a summer standard, like Otter Pops and lemonade stands, a perfect Americana quencher. This year, the parade offers Blue Thunder Drum Band, Sounders FC Sound Wave, University of Washington Helmet, Cheer & Varsity-Alumni Band, and some guy named Drew Carey, whom they've declared Grand Marshal. Should be good. Like, lying in a hammock good.
Saturday 7:30 p.m. - Midnight // Downtown Seattle // FREE

STONE CALLER: Beacon Hill kicks up the volume this Sunday with a volunteer-run street concert suggestively titled Beacon Rocks!. Taking over Festival Street will be The Sweet Somethings, Marc Smason & Joanne Klein & Friends, something codenamed Jumbo, New York composer Chava Mirel, and Excuse You. Which, c'mon, you know they won't.
Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. // Roberto Maestas Festival Street (next to the Beacon Hill light rail station) // FREE
