Extra, Extra: Wonky Decisions and NFL Deals Edition

  • Democrats in Olympia are suing to overturn an Eyman initiative that voters approved last year, which would require a supermajority on any and all tax hikes.
  • The Seattle City Council was approving proposals like crazy during today's meeting. Included in the things they passed are an initiatives to help low-income families in Seattle and King County's Housing Authority domiciles receive assistance from City Light, extend bar hours, and grant an additional $3 million to road improvements.
  • Speaking of later bar hours, the Council's action now put the possibility of extended nightlife hours in the hands of the Liquor Control Board, who will ultimately decide if the localized law changes for the City of Seattle are a possibility.
  • The NFL decided to end its lockout today, after long talks and a complicated deal.
