Extra, Extra: Big Sales, Worst Nightmares and Worse Tragedies

  • Fisher Plaza is up for sale, officials say. The palace of prime real estate, just under the Needle, could go for over $140 million. Now please, no one tell my grandmother that it's not actually a hosptial.

  • The City of Aberdeen is considering naming a bridge after its most famous resident, Kurt Cobain. Of course, this is exactly the sort of thing that a.) he would have hated, and b.) makes people think things like this about Seattle. We hope they don't do it.

  • Every urbanite's biggest fear nearly came true today, when a window washer at McCaw Hall slipped from his seat and was left dangling 60 feet above the ground. Rescue workers eventually helped the man to safety, after occupants of the building saw the man and called 911.

  • And finally, on a very sad note, a shooting in South Seattle late last night has left 1 dead and 3 injured, including two teenagers. The woman who was killed, officials said, was pregnant. Our condolences go out to all involved.
