Can't Miss It: Tuesday
Check out the Not-Its in Redmond.
HOP, SKIP, & JUMP: If you feel like you need to get out of Seattle for a bit, our neighbors on the Eastside have some pretty fun stuff going on this summer. For instance, the City of Redmond has the kid-friendly Arts in the Parks series each Tuesday in July and August. Today you and the kiddos can check out Seattle's premier high energy kiddie band The Not-Its! Or, if kiddie music ain't your thing but kiddie movies are, then the City of Bellevue has got you covered. Each Tuesday evening in July and August, you can catch a kid-friendly flick in Downtown Bellevue Park. Tonight they are showing Despicable Me. When the wannabe evil genius, Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), meets three orphaned girls hilarity ensues. So, pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and head East.
12 pm // Redmond City Hall // FREE
7:30 pm // Downtown Bellevue Park // FREE
EYE ON INDIA: The Eye on India Festival is happening throughout July and into August and is aimed at showcasing India's literary and cinematic contributions through conversations with some of India's foremost writers and filmmakers. Tonight the festival has two conversations happening. First, historian Shrabani Basu discusses her book Victoria and Abdul: The True Story of the Queen's Closest Confidante with NPR journalist Miranda Kennedy. Then, Hari Kunzru, author of The Impressionistand, will chat with fellow novelist David Guterson about their craft. Naturally, this event includes a chai break.
6:30 pm // Seattle Asian Art Museum // $10
STORM TIME: Today is a special Storm game. It's the annual Kids Day! How does this affect the non-kid Storm fan? For starters, tip off is at noon. This means that you gotta call in sick or take a long lunch or whatever, just make up some excuse. This also means that there will be tons of kids in attendance. And kids are really good fellow audience members because they get excited about everything and it's lots of fun. The Seattle Storm are facing off against the Washington Mystics.
12 pm // Key Arena // $10 - $85
