Tweeter of the Week: @SeattleChannel
From now until I forget to do it, I'm going to highlight my favorite Seattle Tweeter. Think of it like #FollowFriday, but less about getting followers for myself, and more about exposing Twitter accounts that are notable, humorous or informative--and always under 140 characters.
With so many public hearings, City Council meetings, Mayoral speeches and public apologies from the Seattle Police Department, not even the local news can stay up to date on what's going on in the city. Fortunately, we've got a great local resource that records every comment, testimony, agenda and, occasionally, joke made by civilians, as well as Seattle's most influential folks--and they Tweet it all.
@SeattleChannel is the official Twitter account of the city's public access cable channel. From this account, they Tweet schedules, newly uploaded videos, and to-the-minute updates about what's happening on lives programs. It's a pretty great tool--especially if you're the kind of wonk who delights at watching the Sallys duke it out.
The Seattle Channel provides a critical service to our city, with live broadcasts and archives of interviews, hearings, council meetings, and some fun programming, too. And for those of us who do most or all of our media consumption from the convenience of our computers, their live streaming is a most useful tool. Their Twitter account makes them even more accessible, by letting everyone know what they've got on tap. Follow @SeattleChannel, and you'll never again miss one of C.R. Douglas' panels. Until, of course, he's gone. But that's a topic for another post.
Way to go, @SeattleChannel. More than once, you've reminded us that we were nearly missing an episode of Book Lust. And for that, we thank you kindly.
