Poll: Do You Care About the Weather?
In the last few days, both the PI and the Times have featured stories about the weather in the proverbial above-the-fold space. And it's not for lack of real news.
Across the region, media outlets are proudly doing what few dare to do in a bar, let alone a newspaper--talk about the weather. Speculations about whether or not it's true that Summer always starts on the Fourth (it's not, by the way, though it does rain more often on the Fourth than any other day in July). Complaints about this year's particularly high number of rainy and sunless days.
Which led us to wonder: how much do Seattleites really, actually, honestly care about the weather?
Sure, it makes a great talking point. When visitors come, it's a badge of honor that we sit outside, in the drizzle, to watch fireworks and drink lukewarm beer in our rain shells. But do we need to read about it? Do we need to write letters to the editor about it? Is this further perpetuating every irritating myth about our state?
In previous polls, we've gathered important information, like that our readers do not care about Anthony Weiner. And so, here is a highly-scientific, legally-binding, end-all poll: Do you really give a shit about the weather?
Oh, and for the record, here's what Cliff Mass has to say about the holiday in question:
July 4? Looking good!
Pollsters, we thank you for your time.
