TOAST INDEPENDENCE: On this, the 4th of July three day weekend, it is time to celebrate our great forefathers and founders in a way we know they would truly appreciate: drinking our way through dozens of microbrews, home drafts, and craft stouts at the Seattle International Beerfest. This entire weekend, sit in the sun while sampling one of 150 beers available to taste. Then another. And then probably another. It's Independence Day, the holiday created to honor your freedom, get delightfully toasted, and listen to lovely live music from Hot Club Sandwich, Bird Watchers, and Miss Mamie Lavona. Go America!
Friday and Saturday 12 - 10 p.m., Sunday 12 - 9 p.m. // Mural Amphitheatre at Seattle Center // $25 (includes glass & 10 beer tickets) or $5 for non-drinkers (includes free N/A bevs)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!: Columbia City Theater celebrates its first birthday this Saturday in the best possible way: a big, free party. Also, hopefully, hats. Anyway, the night opens with Peculiar Pretzelmen from L.A., house-rousing with their percussive junkyard blues. Seattle's own The Bad Things will take their volley and set with classics, covers, and general revelry, before Titanium Sporkestra spikes that shit right into the dirt with dancing cadences. Remember: it's not a birthday party until someone wakes up without their pants.
Saturday 8:00 p.m. // Columbia City Theater // FREE

GET DEAD: On this weekend, we believe you should celebrate everything that makes America great, so this might sound counter-intuitive: Fuck New Jersey. Wait! Hear us out! The Garden State currently holds the world record for Largest Gathering of Zombies, a title they took from us back in 2010. It’s time to reclaim our g(l)ory. This Saturday, join the undead as they huff and shuffle into Fremont towards the mobile food trucks, beer gardens, and live music from Kultur Shock and The Staxx Brothers. To break the record, 4,095 Zombies must be present (and if you aren’t sure what that means, professional zombiers will be on hand to transform you into one of the living dead). Once Guinness officially recognizes our success, expect drooling hordes to infest the neighborhood. USA! USA! USAAAINS! BRAAAINS!
Saturday 2:00 p.m. // Fremont Studios // $3
