Can't Miss It: Wednesday

Laser Queen is like this, but with lasers.

PARTY (WITH) ANIMALS: Nothing says summer like laying in the lawn with friends as you munch on kettle corns and battle with the Woodland Park Zoo's kind of terrible acoustics to hear your favorite old-school musicians. Ah, Zoo Tunes. Tonight, country crooner Lucinda Williams, who's just released a new album, plays among the beasts to the delight of crossover fans and die-hard twang lovers alike. Bring your mom, your uncle, or anything who'll be your drinking buddy in the beer garden.

TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT : What's that? You don't love country music or the Zoo? We can't help you with those glaring flaws, but we can give you another suggestion: Laser Queen. Yup. Laser Queen. It's at the Seattle Laser Dome at Pacific Science Center, and it is awesome. It's lasers. And Lady Queen. Deck yourself in leather and a fake mustache. Go all out. When's the last time you went to a laser show? Doesn't matter. It's been too long.

AT THE HELMS: Oh, you'd rather get your head exploded with awesome, non-laser, non-outdoor music? Fine. In that case, do what you do most nights--go check out the awesome lineup at Neumos. Tonight, it's brain-expanding, genre-defying screamy music, with Helms Alee. The three-piece powerhouse, led by Ben Verellen (the guy from These Arms Are Snakes) are releasing a new album, and will blast your face off with loud, awesome sounds. Also, the show is hosted by your biggest KEXP crush, Hanna Levin.
