- A fire that broke out this morning in West Seattle is being hailed as "suspicious" by investigators. The blaze, which was actually a set of three smaller fires, seemed to be unconnected to an injured man found inside the burning building, leading official to believe it was set intentionally.
- Washington's Secretary of State Sam Reed put to rest rumors that he is, in fact, a machine today, by announcing his impending retirement. Reed has held the position for 11 years.
- KPLU reported today that the Washington State Ferries' new ride, a 64-car beast named the Salish, may sail as soon as Friday. The boat will be joining one other boat, halving the time between departures between Whidbey Island and Port Townsend.
- Isaiah Kalebu has been granted permission to take the stand during his ongoing murder trial. However, he will be forced to wear restraints, including an electrical shock device called a 'Band-It.' Kalebu has repeatedly acted erratically while in court, leading to his initial ban from the trial's proceedings.
