Extra, Extra: Predictable Headlines Edition
Even as the City of Seattle grapples with achy marathon muscles and an equality-and-glitter related hangover, there was still plenty of news to go around. Unfortunately, much of it was entirely unsurprising.
- Seattle's Queen of Denial, Amanda Knox, put on her best surprised face during this morning's appeals court. Today's jaw-dropping reveal? That Rudy Guede, who has already admitted to and been convicted assisting in the killing of Meredith Kercher, stands by his earlier statements that Knox and then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were involved in the murder, as well. Shocking!
- Also shocking! According to a study by the University of Washington, Seattelites have a "negative view" of the police, and tend not to trust them. This is likely because the people of Seattle don't like having the "Mexican piss" beat out of them, but this can neither be confirmed nor denied.
- In astounding financial news, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is, for the second year in a row, the Northwest's most high-paid executive. His bazillion dollar company has its best year ever in 2010, despite the fact that many Americans really can't afford a $6 iced coffee beverage.
- And finally, Capitol Hill Seattle is reporting that the person behind this weekend's vandalism and mild rioting is an anarchist and activist with a rap sheet. We know. Shocking.
