ZooNooz: This is What a 10-Day-Old Snowy Owl Looks Like

It wouldn't be a proper week without a piece of absurdly adorable information from our dear friends at the Woodland Park Zoo. Today, it's this:

According to the Zoo, this little chickie is "the first offspring between the mom, estimated to be 22 years old, and the father, 14 years old. The gender of the chick has not been determined."

Snowy owls saw a dramatic decrease in captive population as a result of the West Nile outbreak several years back, so repopulating these glorious birds is of the utmost importance for the Zoo.

If you visit the Zoo this weekend, you likely won't be able to see the new baby--it will still be too small. But, as they grow very quickly, he/she will probably be visible and flying around in "about a week or two."
