Nude Cruise, Booze and Artsy Dudes: The Fremont Fair

fremontfair.jpg

The Fremont Fair is for all those Seattleites who embrace the bizarre, worship the rarely-seen sun gods, and like to have a crazy good time. Complete with body paint, food vendors, filmed nudist bike riders and loads of local music, this weekend’s festivities, which coincide with next Tuesday’s Summer Solstice, is sure to bring out the mystic in all of us. Fairy costumes are strongly encouraged; what could be better?

To help get you in the summery mood, the Fair offers four stages packed with local musicians. We’re particularly excited about Andrew Vait and The Local Strangers, both of whom played at our Seattlest Presents concert last week! Other local bands include Snug Harbor, Hot Bodies in Motion and Kris Orlowski, to name a few. You can peak at the full lineup here.

Interested in getting your face (and scantily-clad bod) on the big screen? The creators of feature film Beyond Naked will be filming the climax scene for this new documentary, which has been shooting around Seattle since December. Beyond Naked is about four Seattleites who accept the challenge to ride naked in the Fremont Solstice Parade. Explains producer Lisa Cooper, “Through first-person footage and in-depth conversations with critics, fans and organizers of the ride, Beyond Naked explores the deep-rooted fear and awkward fascination with nakedness. What can we learn about who we are and who we want to become from those willing to dare more with less?”

And don’t forget about all the tasty food, booze a-plenty and activities for the kiddos! It’s all going down on Saturday and Sunday, with festivities all day and into the night. Hopefully it will encourage Mother Nature to grace us with some summertime weather!
