Food Frenzy: Wings, Books and Happy Hour
What's cooking around town this week? Here's a taste of what's hot and fresh.
Extended Golden Beetle Happy Hour Tonight!
Ballard's Golden Beetle is hosting a summer reverie party to kick off their seasonal cocktail menu, as well as to debut their new sidewalk patio space. To celebrate summer, they are extending their $3 happy hour menu til 7pm. We suggest ordering the Hammock Dazed cocktail with Voyager Gin, Arak Razzouk, Watermelon and Cilantro. Or, if you're feeling snacky, order up a plate of wood fired flat bread and hummus.
June 16, 5-7pm // Golden Beetle (1744 Northwest Market St)
Celebrate Fathers Day at the Wing Dome:
Honor and celebrate the man who helped shape who you are today. Forget the big fancy hoopla and give Dad what he really wants - wings. Who doesn't love a little meat on the bone? The Wing Dome has you covered with their special Father's Day Feast. The mammoth meal includes 12 wings, smoked brisket, sliced sirloin steak, coleslaw and dipping sauces. It's Dad Heaven.
June 19 // Wing Dome Locations (Greenwood, West Seattle, Kirkland & Kent) // $42.99
What We Talk About When We Talk About Food:
Hear your favorite local food authors talk about why they write about food. Speakers include Amy Pennington, Becky Selengut, Anna Roth and Keren Brown. This is the first event hosted by Kim Rickett's Book Events team since Kim passed away, so it's sure to be a poignant moment. Your ticket includes appetizers and wine at the Palace Ballroom.
June 20, 7-9pm // Palace Ballroom (2100 5th Avenue) // $25, tickets available online.
The Consumer's Conflict: Fishing for Answers
Maybe you've noticed the ado recently around why it matters where your fish comes from? Learn up about all the fishy issues, by listening to fishermen, fishmongers, conservationists and chefs discussing how you can have you fish and eat it too. We don't want to deplete the fish in the ocean - and the best way to arm ourselves is with knowledge. Seattlest, of course, still loves octopus and weeps that we shouldn't be indulging in the tentacled creature.
June 21, 6-8pm // Palace Ballroom (2100 5th Avenue) // $20 includes appetizers, one beverage and a donation to People for Puget Sound. Tickets can be purchased here.
