Can't Miss It: Wednesday
SING FOR CHANGE: Noise for the Needy continues tonight, benefiting Real Change and making you feel good about yourself. Tonight's top event pick is Karaoke for the Needy at the Crescent. Yes, you, too can shriek you version of "Holy Diver," while simultaneously donating money to hardworking newspaper salespeople. There's no cover, and a portion of your bar tab goes to one of Seattle's most awesome organizations, all of your exhibitions (and some of your pride) will go right along with it. Yay!
Kareoke for the Needy // 9 p.m. // The Crescent Lounge // Free
BE SENSIBLE : If getting sloppy and singing Cher for charity isn't your cup of tea, head to the Center House to immerse yourself in some seriously prim entertainment; Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility" continues tonight at Book-It. Featuring family fortunes, love among the English gentry and plenty of ultra-wry wit that will make you want to start calling things "droll", this proper picture of society circa 1811 is a most elegant way to pass an evening.
"Sense and Sensibility" // 7:30 p.m. // Book-It // $20-$32
WHITE NOISE: Oh, wait, actually you want to rock out, but not do the singing? In that case, Showbox SoDo's your best bet tonight, where The Airborne Toxic Event will be making literary allusions (their name comes from a Don DeLillo book), incorporating violas, piano, trumpets and an organ, and generally engulfing the crowd with sweeping melodies and dark, Cure-esque lyrics.
The Airborne Toxic Event, with Mona // 7:00 p.m. // Showbox SoDo // $19-$21
