Food Frenzy: Boil Smackdown, Bottomless Punch and a Little Tail
We've heard rumors of warm weather this weekend, and believe us-- our toes and fingers are crossed. Especially since this Sunday brings events involving picnic benches, newspaper and a whole lotta of summer tradition. A warning: get ready to suck.
Oh, and next week? You can enjoy a little tail while honoring a great butcher, and break out your punch pimp cup to raise some dough.
Boil Smackdown: Crab vs. Crawfish
Sunday brings the battle of the crustaceans, with not one but two boils representing traditions of the North and the South. Fan favorite, Where Ya At Matt is hosting their second crawfish boil at Nectar Lounge in Fremont. True NOLA fans will be suckin da' heads with the all-you-can-eat option for $35. Last time, lines ran 'round the block, so arrive early to soak up the sun and drink a few beers.
On the other side of the city, Madison Park Conservatory is hosting a traditional crab boil, featuring lots of butter, potatoes and a little newsprint as your plate. This is the first in their Sunday series of family-style suppers at the restaurant. Bring out your bib, wet naps and your appetite because at either event, you will get messy and intimate with your food. Our boil of choice: the mudbugs.
