Last-Last Minute Lit Event: Night School Symposium with Chris Cleave

littlebee.jpg Sometimes those last minute dates are the hottest, and tonight we have NY Times Bestselling Author Chris Cleave taking over the Fireside Room at the Sorrento Hotel for an impromptu evening of animated conversation with Chris Higashi (co-founder of Seattle Reads) and the director of Sweet Crude, Sandy Cioffi.

Cleave is most known for his debut novel Incendiary—a story about a terrorist bomb in London that actually was published on July 7th 2005, the day of the London subway and train bombings…creepy. The novel won a Somerset Maugham Award and the US Book-of-the-Month Club’s fiction award.

Cleave’s latest novel, Little Bee, has skyrocketed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and is already short listed for the Costa Book Awards.
And of course having the director of Sweet Crude (and a candidate for Seattle City Council), only sweetens the deal—Sandy Cioffi is her own force to be reckoned with. Since Little Bee focuses on many of the horrors in Nigeria, it’s only natural that the woman who made four trips to the most volatile regions of Nigeria for her award-winning documentary be present at the symposium to weigh in with her experiences.

Not a night to be missed—so cancel those previous plans and head to the Sorrento tonight!

Thursday, 8:30-11:30 p.m. // Fireside Room, Sorrento Hotel // Free
