All Tied Up: The Sounders got off to an early 1-0 lead Saturday when Freddy Montero knocked in a goal in the 8th minute. However, the Columbus Crew has made a season out of turning penalty kicks into points on the scoreboard. So, when the Crew was awarded a penalty kick in the 67th minute, a Sounders W was turned into a draw.
Next Up: A Northwest showdown, as the Sounders host MLS newbies, the Portland Timbers, this Saturday.
Two Out of Three Is Bad: The Mariners' recent string of wins received a setback this weekend, as the squad dropped two of three to the visiting Chicago White Sox. Hernandez took the mound on Friday for a 3-2 win, but the Ms were on the losing end of a 6-0 blowout on Saturday. The third game of the series had the teams tied at 2 going into the 10th inning, but Chicago knocked in three runs for a 5-2 final.
Next Up: A three-game road series in Baltimore starts Tuesday.
No Doubting Thomas: Sunday night was the last chance for prospects across the country to withdraw their names from the NBA Draft. But, we can still expect to see Isaiah Thomas at the June 23rd selection ceremony. The former UW standout guard is projected to be a second round pick.
