Songs for the Loveless: Jessica Lea Mayfield Plays Tractor Tonight

It’s Tuesday. Most of the workweek lies ahead. Rain's in the forecast. Many Seattleites are still smarting from weekend misadventures in love . Well, when the going gets tough, the tough find company. And nowhere will those unlucky in love (or otherwise malcontent) find a better companion than at the Tractor tonight, where Jessica Lea Mayfield brings her brand of brooding neo-folk.
At 22, Mayfield is a veteran of the music industry. She began performing in her family’s bluegrass band at age 8 and released an EP of her own songs at 15. Mayfield’s 2008 solo full-length debut "With Blasphemy So Sweet," recorded with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, established her among a talented crop of artists experimenting with various elements of folk, country and rock.
Mayfield’s latest release "Tell Me" hit record stores and download sites in February. Critics from independent and mainstream media alike have called the album a remarkable meditation on love for someone of Mayfield’s years. Catch the up and coming star of brood tonight at the Tractor to lament love lost alongside an artist doing the same. Denver indie-folkster Nathaniel Rateliff opens.
Jessica Lea Mayfield performs "Our Hearts Are Wrong" on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
