Review: Kurt Vile at The Sunset

We were lucky enough to see Kurt Vile at his sold out show on Easter Sunday.

Vile spent the vast majority of the set with his head bowed and his majestic hair dangled in front of his guitar, much like a 15 year old covering a Pearl Jam song at his high school's talent show. We want to make it clear that we're not complaining, however- we were just a bit surprised.

It was initially hard to warm up to his louder set because we prefer his more gentle and dreamy tracks. Once we established that we just weren't going to find it, however, we were content. Vile channeled his American rocker side well as he crunched and grunged through a great set with his fellow long haired, tee shirt wearing backing band, known as 'The Violators.'

Although it wasn't what we expected, we'd certainly see it again.
