Qwest Field Easter Service Draws 20,000
There's an acronym among regular churchgoers and people of the cloth: CEO. It stands for "Christmas-Easter Only," and describes the much-documented trend of packed churches on these two holidays. Folks who nary consider a regular Sunday sermon get up early, packing the pews--sometimes threatening to crowd out those who are there each week. Seattle's Mars Hill Church knows it--so yesterday, they offered Easter worship in a space big enough to catch any and everyone looking some service. The venue? Qwest Field.
According to KIRO, 20,000 Easter service-seekers came to Qwest for a sermon and baptisms. The service, which was non-denominational, started at 9:30, and kept the crowd despite the brisk, wet weather.
Sunday's super-service is expected to be one of the largest church gatherings in the Northwest.
