Easter brunch takes much of the food attention this weekend. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t much going on. Of course there is! Here are some things to put on your radar; most of them are a bit further on the horizon, but should be on your food loving calendar. While it’s tough to get a handle on everything food related going on, we at Seattlest are doing our very best to show you what’s cool. And delicious.

Grand Opening of Marination Station

The good folks at Marination are opening up their non-mobile space, Marination Station, this Friday in Capitol Hill’s Harvard Market. While we’ll miss Big Blue, the spectre of available parking and a heat-controlled seating environment is enticing. We’re looking forward to having their spam sliders at the ready. And word off the street is that there will be some Marination Station specific menu items that you can’t get from Big Blue. And they’ll also have a beer garden. And we will see you there.

Picnic for the Planet, Earth Day 2011

This Friday is Earth Day and the Pike Place Market wants to get in on the earth-friendly drum circle with Picnic for the Planet. The market will play host to a picnic lunch where some of the market vendors will prepare their own special items for the occasion. Pike Place Market has partnered with The Nature Conservatory to put on this event. Feel free to bring your own lunch or contact the restaurants making special lunches for the day; restaurants such as Matt’s In the Market, Steelhead Diner, Michou, and Uli’s Sausage are amongst those making lunch. Be sure to email them if you want one of their takeout options. Enjoy the picnic with your fellow earthlings and be sure to pack your compostable silverware.

Dining Out For Life

Seattle Restaurant Week is coming to a close tonight, and Dining Out For Life is the next big event that many of our local restaurants are participating in. Dining Out For Life is a night where the local community dines out and fights AIDS. The restaurants participating will provide a percentage from the evening’s proceeds to Lifelong AIDS Alliance. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all under the umbrella. The list of restaurants is robust and range anywhere from your local coffee shop to destination fine dining restaurants.

Third Annual People Eating and Giving to 826 Seattle
We at Seattlest always like to support local charities. Add some of our favorite authors and tie it to good food, and we’re in. This time it’s to support 826 Seattle and their goal to stoke the creative fires of kids. This is their People Eating and Giving fundraiser and on the night of 4/29 at the Palace Ballroom, noted authors Dave Eggers (also the founder of 826), Tom Robbins, and Myla Goldberg will all share their authorly insight. All while the crew of Tom Douglas' Palace Ballroom prepare you eats and pour you vino. And it’s all for charity! The ticket prices range, so be sure to look into the various levels.

Nettletown’s Nettlemas
Eastlake’s Nettletown is that charming neighborhood cafe that we all wish was on our block. And if you haven’t been in yet, Christina Choi’s Nettletown will have their Nettlemas party on Saturday 4/30. It’s to celebrate the Irish Nettlemas that welcomes in the warmer weather ahead. While we’re dubious that warmer weather is actually ahead, we hear that Nettletown will have salmon, nettles (natch), and traditional Irish eats on tap.

April 30, 6pm and 8pm seatings// Nettletown (2238 Eastlake Avenue East)// $35 for the family style buffet, reservations
