If you're a local artist with a project in the works, listen up: Sprout is your chance to share your concept with the community and possibly score some funding to boot. The locally-sourced community dinner, which funds an emerging artist project by audience vote, is back for round three.

From Sprout's Kickstarter page:

Sprout grew from and is part of a larger network of micro granting projects that are occurring all through the nation from NYC (F.E.A.S.T.) to Phoenix (Sunday Soup Phoenixville). Sprout was inspired by the response of other cities to the drastic funding cuts to artists and saw it as a means to bring community together to cherish, support and fund the work of local emerging artists. Sprout directly supports emerging artists and contributes to the sustainability of the local arts landscape by making small funds available to artists to complete projects that otherwise would not be possible.

The inaugural Sprout, which took place last August, raised $1,000 for Whitney Aguirre's Central District Women's Dance Classes (Surrender Dance on Facebook); which, by the way, are still going strong. Sprout II, held in November, raised $1,000 for poet Mimi Allen's Song of Tent City project, and an additional $200 for runner-up Brandon Ilenstine's project Topstache.

Artistic genres of all kinds are accepted and are encouraged to be works that are sustainable, local and forward-thinking. Sprout III proposals are due by May 2, 5 p.m. For more information, visit the artist submission page online.

Stay tuned for more info on the event itself.
