King County Sheriff's Deputy shoots, kills suspect in Boulevard Park
A man suspected of eluding police earlier in the day was shot by a plainclothes King County Sheriff's Deputy last night, reports KING 5. Details, as of now, are vague, but B-Town Blog breaks it down pretty clearly: the shooting happened between 8:30 and 9 p.m., the suspect was man was in his 20s, and officers were waiting to arrest the suspect outside his vehicle. The suspect's female passenger suffered minor injuries.
We can't really say it any better than King County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart right now: “Obviously, when [the suspect] came back, something happened. Presumably, the officer was in fear for his life and shot and killed a man.”
While the Seattle Police Department's been getting a lot of attention recently for a string of violent incidents, including officer-involved shootings, the King County Sheriff's office has had its share of woes in the past few years, as well (including the shoe incident) -- they most recently came back to the spotlight when a deputy who had been fired for use of excessive force got his job back last month.
More details as they come.
