The (Somewhat) Mysterious Case of Patton Oswalt Performing at the Moore in May

Patton Oswalt at the Moore Theatre May 14.

We noticed that cynical funnyman Patton Oswalt is scheduled to perform at the Moore next month--not that you'd know it. The publicity is so scarce (it's not even listed on his website) that there is a lot we still don't know about this upcoming performance. Like, why now?

We know that the Sub Pop comedian just finished touring in support of his book, Zombie Spaceship Wasteland. The book is a collection of personal essays on topics ranging from his experiences working at a movie theater to a vampire comic--so he's probably not promoting that so much anymore. And even though he hasn't been on the big screen lately, he has had recurring roles in both Caprica and The United States of Tara. Maybe he's doing some new material. But we did notice that the poster for the show said it would be a DVD taping, hinting that the performance will feature his most polished, DVD-worthy lines. Or not. We really don't know what to expect.

For now, this mystery will continue to go unsolved. Whatever happens, the performance promises to be totally hilarious. Seriously. Meanwhile watch this oddly mesmerizing video of Oswalt and Michael Chiklis talking in their secret grown-man twin language, much like these little tykes talking in their baby twin language. (Twin language. Whoa.)

Sat, May 14, 7 & 9:30 pm // Moore Theatre // $23
