It's almost impossible to keep a pulse on the plethora of food related events and happenings in Seattle. Seattle Cocktail Culture App Release Party:
Celebrate the release of the Seattle Cocktail Culture iPhone App, the ultimate guide to bars and drinks. Developed and designed by LUPEC Seattle's Wendy Miller, the app is will point you in the right direction when you are in need of a drink. The launch party is bringing together some of the best bartenders in Seattle plus play trivia to win gift cards to local bars. Hosted at Liberty in Capitol Hill in the back room. The $25 Gourmet Cooking Class:
Think gourmet and organic food is too expensive? Chef Becky Selengut wants to prove you wrong. She'll show you how to create a gourmet meal for four people--for only $25. Dishes such as Wild Salmon Chowder with Thyme and Fresh Tomatoes and Grilled Bread will surely please any dinner guest. Becky will teach you tricks to stretch your dollar while eating healthy, good-tasting food. Forget pizza, you can eat a three course meal for the same price. Sign up today for one of the classes hosted at PCC--they fill up quickly, so plan ahead.

Here's to Beer: Washington Cask Beer Festival:
The Washington Cask Beer Festival showcases over 70 varieties to sample from a multitude of breweries. For the non-beer geeks, cask-conditioned beer unfiltered or unpasteurized beer and is served from a cask without additional nitrogen. Sample Herbert's Legendary Cask Festival Ale, a commemorative beer to honor Bert Grant, a highlight of the annual event. Scope out the offerings from Black Raven brewery, a 2010 people's choice winner. Bring a friend and geek out, ask questions and get to know the brewers. And ladies, skip the daisy dukes and high heels. Be real. Get excited. Hops are fun and interesting, especially "organic" ones.

Grilled Cheese Please Class with Laura Werlin:
Most of us remember school lunch grilled cheese, Wonder Bread with slices of Kraft American Cheese. Well, things have changed. The gooey delicious sandwich goes gourmet, pleasing the palates of adults, bringing back comfort food. Beecher's Test Kitchen in Pike Place hosts author Laura Werlin of Grilled Cheese, Please! for a special class dedicated to grilled cheese sandwiches--and how to pair them with wine. Laura will teach you techniques to make the ultimate grilled cheese. The class includes a copy of the book, several wine tastings and of course, grilled cheese sandwiches.

Remember Scott Simpson at Lunchbox Laboratory:
It's been a week since we were shocked by the news of the tragic death of Lunchbox Laboratory founder/chef, Scott Simpson. Allison Austin Scheff reports that the restaurant will host a public memorial for Scott this Sunday from 4-6pm. The restaurant will provide small bites and libations whilst sharing stories to celebrate and honor Simpson.
