Yesterday afternoon, the staff in the On the Boards’ administrative offices received what they are describing as a “miracle call”: The artist’s visas for Vivarium Studio, the French experimental theater company that is scheduled to perform L'Effet de Serge at OtB beginning April 14th, have been approved. As we reported on Sunday, this verdict was very much in doubt after being told at the last possible minute that the visa applications would be denied.

After extensive hours on the phone seeking help, and a bit of help from the offices of Jim McDermott and Patty Murray, they now have the visas. Their current focus is figuring out the last minute logistics of getting Vivarium out here in time for the show; any portion of which could go wrong and derail the effort to not cancel this production. An announcement updating the situation will be posted on OtB’s blog by Friday.

Good job, OtB staffers, well done. But now you have more hours of work ahead of you. We wish you luck.
