Weekend Sports Roundup

Two Out of Three Ain't Bad: The Mariners' season got underway on Friday night with the first of a three-game series against division rivals the Oakland A's. Despite being on the road, the M's pulled off decisive victories in Game 1 (6-2) and Game 2 (5-2). However, errors and other missteps seemed to crop up to make Seattle fall short in a 7-1 defeat on Sunday.
Next up: A three-game series with the Rangers down in Texas kicks off tonight.

For the Record Books: Move over Edgar Marinez, Ichiro passed up the former Seattle third baseman/DH to become the Mariners' all-time hits leader over the weekend. Suzuki currently holds the record with 2,249 hits and counting.

It's a Draw: The Sounders went toe-to-toe with the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday and the result was a 2-2 tie. While it's not a perfect outcome for the boys in green, it sure beats the three losses they have in the books so far.
Next up: a home game versus the Chicago Fire on April 9th.
