As of yesterday, Ben Harper is offering the single "Rock N' Roll is Free" from his upcoming album Give Till It's Gone. No foolin' despite it being April first; it really is free for a limited time. Kind of.

You have to head to his website and offer up your email address for the privilege of a free download.

More and more, your contact info seems to buy your way to "free" music, but does that really mean it's free? We don't think so. Though, at least it's a choice and they're not tricking you into revealing something you don't want to reveal. One more bit of irony, after the limited time offer (and even now on iLike--you have to purchase the single either on its own or, obviously, as part of his new album. Either way, we're interested to hear what's new from Ben Harper. For any of you that choose to download he free single, drop a note and tell us what you think either on this post or @SeattlestMusic on Twitter.
