Pete Yorn's in the Hizzy, i.e. He's at Showbox Sodo Tomorrow

pete.jpg Pete Yorn may have started out his career success with a sound like a rainy Seattle (insert any season here) day. He had that kind of voice that would lull you whether he was singing about a heartbreak or a three-ring circus. With a feeling of a slow shuffle while at the same time driving forward like a rock song, Yorn has a way of pulling in the listener. However, he's changed his tune, literally. Since his debut album, he's moved into a faster-paced rock sound both in music and vocals. He's still undeniably Pete Yorn but with a bit more of an upbeat feeling.

To start off this stellar night, Ben Kweller will be the opening act. He started his solo career back in 2000 and put out a decent showing with five albums in about nine years. However, since 2009 we've heard neither hide nor hair of him. It could be due to the birth of his second son, or maybe he's keeping us in suspense for some incredible breakthrough. Ok, it's probably just being busy with the kid. Regardless, we're glad to see him out and about again, maybe this tour will pull out some inspiration and we'll see a record in late 2011 or early 2012.

Here's a treat for you die-hard Yorn fans, the Showbox Sodo show is one of only a handful where he's playing his original full-length, MusicForTheMorningAfter in its entirety. We're super excited about it since we're more into old school Pete than his more recent stuff. It looks like this flashback performance might be due to the re-release of the album this year. Either way, we're ready to swoon at his still dashing good looks. If you're around when we faint... at least try not to step on us.
