Little Vegan Leaguers

informed_vegan.jpg Ever been to the Tri-Cities? It's an agricultural hot spot knee deep in farms, taco trucks, hunting, fishing, and a lot of celebratory meals taking place at Outback Steakhouse. That's why reading that native Nick Klein, blogger behind The Informed Vegan, is sponsoring a little league team tickled our fancy.

While the Tri-Cities is surely not unaware of veganism, most of the little league teams are sponsored by companies like Tyson Chicken & McDonalds. Postgame parties are at Round Table and Hubby's Pizza. While seeing a bunch of little kids celebrating with vegan, gluten free cupcakes in Seattle might seem ho-hum, it could be potentially awesome to see the the "Informed Vegans" beat "Dairy Queen" (Wed 3/30/11 5pm at KN Rookie Field!).

Nick grew up playing Kennewick National Baseball and this sponsorship is an attempt to spread knowledge and awareness to issues that impact animals while giving back to an organization he enjoyed. He hopes to start conversations, which seems very likely.

According to PETA, Cracker Jacks are vegan. Root, root, root for the reject the commodity status of animals and the use of animal products for any purpose team!
