Yesterday, we were immersed in the flurry of James Beard-related news and updates. Today, we pay homage to the accolades of other hometown food celebrities.
Gluten-Free Girl & The Chef
Nationally-recognized "gluten-free girl" Shauna James Ahern revealed the news of a second cookbook in collaboration with her chef husband Dan Ahern. Their second cookbook, GLUTEN-FREE GIRL EVERYDAY, scheduled to be published late winter of next year, will focus on the gluten-free foods they cook at home with their daughter Lucy (Lu.) Shauna explains in her blog post,
"Rather than a collection of recipes gathered around the stories of our lives, this next cookbook will be a series of strategies we have learned for how to cook satisfying food that is good for our bodies."
In the gluten-free camp, Jeanne Sauvage of the blog, The Art of Gluten-Free Baking will be publishing her first cookbook on gluten-free holiday baking with Chronicle books. We are very excited for some of the best gluten-free cooks and bakers getting recognition for their hard work helping those with allergies eat well.
Former Crave owner and Top Chef contestant Robin Leventhal is launching a new project close to her heart and ours--a new Jewish delicatessen on Mercer Island. Seattle Weekly has the specifics on the deli, scheduled to open in May.
Besides awards and titles, Seattle is cultivating a community of food lovers bringing their talents beyond the kitchen. New York Times bestseller Molly Wizenberg is working on her second book proposal. We like to remember that Ms. Molly got her start right here, writing for Seattlest.
