Bring Your Energy Dome To Devo On Tuesday Night!
Devo is coming to the Moore Theatre on Tuesday night and we couldn’t be more excited. We’ve been on pins and needles since STG Presents announced the show back in early February.
The origin of the group’s name comes from members’ own concept of ‘de-evolution’, stating that we’re getting dumber as we progress (or regress) as humans, and you can argue the merits on both sides.
Since its inception in the mid-70s Devo has been experimental in their use of Moog synthesizers in almost all of their songs to date. This heavy use of synthesizers isn’t overpowering like Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. Devo’s use is like a drum, blending in so well you don’t notice it until you remove it, but is nevetheless a vital organ of the band.
While every member is over over the age of 50, there are no indications that they are slowing down, as evident in their latest album, Something For Everybody. Tuesday night’s show is the first of eight planned appearances, which will culminate with the band performing on Austin City Limits on March 27 (set your DVR).
