MAGMA FESTIVAL: Hollow Earth Radio's annual MAGMA Festival continues into its second weekend with two fabulous shows you would do well to attend. First up, Washington Hall hosts The Hive Dwellers, NighTraiN, Militant Child, and Alex Miranda for an evening of delight wrapped in a hardwood shell. Then Saturday brings a swell line-up of the emotionally minded and sweetly deranged with Broken Water, Kunt Kuntroll, and Santee at the mysterious Healthy Times Fun Club. If you're wondering where it is, wander around Capitol Hill until you see the group of wild-haired mystics carrying dowsing rods and sweatbands and follow them.
Friday 8:00 p.m. // Washington Hall // $9
Saturday 9:00 p.m. // Healthy Times Fun Club // Donations Accepted

ART ATTACK: Break out the nitroglycerin, it's time for the Art Attack. Every month, our sometimes surly neighbors to the south put on their finest and show off their amazing wares. This Saturday is no exception. Among the highlights: local artisans take over the Trailer Park Mall to celebrate thrift by way of flea markets, there will be a live recording for the Georgetown Trailer Park Podcast, and then something really lovely: an exhibition focusing on master French cartoonist Jacques Tardi with a talk by curator, editor, and Tardi translator Kim Thompson. Don't be late.
Saturday 6:00 p.m. // Georgetown // FREE

FLASH BANG JAZZ: What if we were to tell you that you could take a trip back through time, to a hazy club in the Weimar neighborhood with event coordinator Diva Le Deviant? What if we said you could do this every month? Would you believe us? We hope so, because you totally can. The Sound & Smoke Cabaret is an ongoing exploration of sound, performance, and dance, framed in the grand style of the underground cabarets of 1920s Berlin. Strap on your shiny and try not to flirt with your past.
Sunday 7 P.M., // Can Can // $10-$15 (21+)
