Welcome Home, Rachel the Pig!
Following a brief stint in the "hospital" following her accident in February, our Pike Place Market icon Rachel the Piggybank will return home on Friday, March 18.
Rachel, a favorite among tourists and locals, normally resides under the market clock. Before she returns to the market, which has been her home since 1986, she's going on tour to popular spots around Seattle via a vintage 1936 farm truck.
Her schedule of stops:
Sunday, March 13: The Space Needle from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Monday, March 14: Colman Dock from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, March 15: City Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wednesday, March 16: Seattle Art Museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday, March 17: Occidental Park (Pioneer Square) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday, March 18: Westlake Plaza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
When she returns to the market, she'll continue to help raise money for programs associated with Pike Place Market, such as the clinic, preschool, food bank and senior center.
Seattlest thanks the team of artists who dutifully helped repair our market mascot so that she can return to the good work she does supporting many deserving residents. Plus, who doesn't love to ride the pig and pose for a cheesy picture? We sure do — as do the thousands of tourists who visit the market every year. Welcome home, Rachel, you were sorely missed.
