Cute Overload: The Concretes at Neumos Tonight

concretes.jpg Let's be honest: Sweden has produced enough music in the past decade that we could probably go to at least one show a week for the next year and not even scratch the surface. Not to sound biased or anything, but chances are at least half of the bands would consist of 5+ members, and definitely be of the indie pop variety. The Concretes are no exception.

Since 1995, the Stockholm-based, 8-piece band has been making infectiously fun pop music, filled with horns, organs, mandolins, sugary vocals and some epic tambourine action that creates the signature pick-me-up sound that only Scandinavians can truly produce. You've probably already heard at least one of their songs, seeing as there was a time in the early 2000s where a Concretes song graced the presence of about a bajillion car and department store commercials, and we can totally see why--their music omits a golden happiness that thaws our ever-frozen hearts. We have a hunch that the show is going to sound as electric and positive feeling inducing as their records are.

Other bands of the evening include MillionYoung, who sound equally jingle-y and bubble gum based, and Seattle's own Speaker Speaker, whose pop-punk sound is bound to set the evening off nicely. Get ready for a cute overload.
