There is no shortage of female singers in this town. One might even venture to say there's no shortage of good female singers in this town. Rarely, though, do you see someone with such intensity and earnestness in their style of singing as you see in Kelli Schaefer. Granted, she's not really "from this town", rather from our sister city to the south Portland, but the case is made regardless.

Kelli has spent quite a bit of time up in Seattle, especially lately. Sound on the Sound's birthday party at the Blue Moon brought her up along with a couple members of Drew Grow and the Pastor's Wives. She also made an appearance at the Drew Grow benefit show last weekend at Columbia City Theater sharing a gorgeous rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow with us. This time she'll be gracing the stage in Columbia City for her very own CD release show. Consider this another highly anticipated local release; we sincerely doubt you will be disappointed by any one of the songs on her album.

If you haven't seen Ms. Schaefer live, then you can't understand the true emotional power that she emits with every note. Her eyes close, her mouth opens wide, and raw feeling spills forth and runs through every fiber of your being. It's truly something to behold, and you'll get your chance this Friday at Columbia City Theater. So do yourself a favor, head down for a drink and night of raw musical power.
