Canning at Allium with Urban Pantry Author Amy Pennington:
We already know Gwyneth Paltrow loves local superstar as much as we do Amy Pennington for her smart tips on stocking a modern day pantry including canning, planting herbs and cooking with what you've preserved. Amy teams up with another Seattlest favorite, Chef Lisa Nakamura at Allium on Orcas Island for brunch and marmalade class.

Celebrate National Chili Day Today:
Snow or no snow (#snOMG), it's still cold enough to ladle up a hot and spicy bowl of chili. Slim's Last Chance in Georgetown according to Bon Appetit is among the top 10 in the nation. We're also big fans of the chili verde and jalapeno mac n cheese. Burger chain The Counter will offer free chili topping with your burger. Seattle Mag picks the one at Maggie Bluffs in their recent Comfort Food compilation. Beans, meat, cheese and a hearty dose of fire, we're already plotting our next bowl of chili.
Stayed tuned next week for some pie and a few other fun treats. Hopefully we'll see you feasting and learning with us soon!
