Everybody Loves Cake

Yes, it's true, we all love cake. It can come in many shapes, sizes and forms, but the best kind of Cake is heading to the Moore tonight for your aural enjoyment. Having taken a little listen to the new album, we are fully aware that this is an entirely new Cake.

While the full and varied instrumentation is still there, the same lyrical style and the same fantastic vocals... it just feels different. They've had quite a lot of time off to think it through and it seems like they've decided to let their music change with the times. The new release, Showroom of Compassion is overall more radio-play friendly than some of their previous albums. With fun, simple lines that are easily digestible but still have that mature quality that comes with a band sticking it out together for nearly two decades. Though, it has been quite a while since they laid tracks; their last release was in 2004. We're pretty excited to hear where this will take them next, let's just hope it doesn't take another eight years.

Apparently there's no opener tonight, it's just an evening with Cake. HELL YES.
