Valentines Day = Champagne, Chocolate & Cheese

Valentine's Day looms near for those who choose to celebrate the tradition. For most that means going out, so we will soon be posting a few places around the city to celebrate. Traditionally people drink champagne, buy chocolate and send flowers, though it's easy to get lost in a maze of mass-produced dreck and teddy bears holding hearts. Listed below are a few places we trust to help you prepare to woo your special someone.

Fat Cork, a new local distributor for grower's champagne based in Queen Anne is teaming up with Theo Chocolate this Tuesday evening for a tasting of five delicious champagnes--three rosés and two whites--paired with chocolate for $25. Theo is the only Organic, Fair Trade bean-to-bar Chocolate Factory in the US.
Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. // Fat Cork (111 W. John St. #136A) // $25 (click here for tickets)

Chocolopolis will be offering several tastings this week at their Seattle and Bellevue stores including salted caramel sauce from Hot Cakes. They will also be delivering to downtown Bellevue and downtown Seattle on Valentines day. Perfect for last minute gifts and surprises.

The Calf & Kid Artisan Cheese shop in Melrose Market will be continuing their cheese classes with Cheese 101 on Saturday, and we're pretty sure it's going to sell out. The class covers basics of cheese history, different milk types and their characteristic and aging process. Attendees will taste seven different styles of cheese, including both American and European examples of each style. Call the shop to reserve a spot at (206) 467-5447.
Saturday, 4-6 p.m. // Calf & Kid (1531 Melrose Ave.) // $35
