Vera's Turning 10 So It's Throwing a Party...

vera.JPG You can thank a bunch of idealistic folks named James Keblas, Shannon Stewart, Dave Minert and Kate Becker for today's thriving all-ages scene. These visionaries worked with the City of Seattle to eliminate many of the overbearing laws that kept kids out of 21+ music venues. Through their hard work and dedication they created their own all-ages music venue called The Vera Project where music lovers not yet old enough to buy beer can see national touring acts as well as gain valuable skills. This Saturday we celebrate The Vera Project's 10th anniversary with cake (everyone loves cake) and an excellent party.

The gala runs from 5 p.m. to midnight and will include a DJ set from Emerald City Soul Club. You can't buy tickets online anymore, but give Vera a call, (206) 956-8372, and they can try to accommodate any new reservations. More info about the Gala also available here.

As an added bonus, a photo exhibit has been displayed at The Vera itself chronicling the last decade of Vera shows, events, and past locations shot by classic Vera photographers including Paula Kieko, Tom Heuser, Curt Doughty, Morgan Keuler, Chona Kassinger, Victoria Holt, Tammy Cartwright and more. The exhibit opened yesterday so drop by and take a look.
