In the early-80's a dark new rhythmic sound arose from the the UK club scene via the band Joy Division. Flash forward to 2002 when a young band named Interpol release their critically acclaimed album 'Turn on the Bright Lights', which took many of the same dark rhythmic sounds and gave them a new twist. Over time the band toured extensively and released three more albums most recently with their self-titled release in 2010. Joy Division may be dead but the bands influence lives on through the music of Interpol.

  • Joy Division was done by the early '80s (their last show being May 2, 1980), and their influence has shown in a lot more bands than just Interpol (like New Order, the Cure, She Wants Revenge, Nine Inch Nails, and almost every goth band ever).

Also, while Joy Division is no more, its bassist has been successfully touring playing their music in much purer form than Interpol. In fact, Peter Hook was at the original Showbox last December.

    Just sayin'.
