Eyes on the Ties - State of the Union Fashion

So, plenty of people are going to be talking about what the President said, how polished John Boehner's leather-face was, and how smirky Biden looked, but I'd like to take a moment to discuss what I like to discuss:

What they all were wearing!!!

First off, POTUS was all business. His tie? So straightforward. It totally did not betray his upcoming zinger regarding salmon:

Speaker of the House John Boehner, however, brought a hint of whimsy with his choice for a pinkish tie and slightly-crooked ribbon. Very off-the-cuff, indeed, sir:

Beyond the lectern, there some other interesting choices. Some people showed off how fashion-forward they were, like this gentleman, who decided to stray from the usual white-shirt song-and-dance with an oh-so-hot mustard-colored number:

And like any major social gathering (especially one endlessly compared to a prom) there were some awkward wardrobe moments, too. For example, there was apparently an after-Christmas clearance on red blazers, leading to a few of these:

And finally, during the Q&A portion, Kal "Kumar" Penn, who went from Hollywood to "Hey, is that...?" by taking on the position of Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, decided to just blend in:

A nice showing all around. Can't wait to see what they wear next year.
