- Today, Seattle sweethearts The Head and the Heart's self-titled debut is available digitally through SubPop and all major digital outlets. The record will be released on both CD and LP on April 16th in celebration of Record Store Day.
- Prep for the 37th annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF 2011) by checking out festival ticket packages, now available for perusal and purchase online.
- "Seattle the Peerless City", was written by Arthur O. Dillon and adopted by City Council in 1909 as the official Seattle song. The lyrics were set to music this year - watch City Attorney Pete Holmes' son, Paul, performing the musical version of the song with his choir, The Duke's Men of Yale at City Hall.
- Taproot Theatre opens its 35th Anniversary season in February with Homer’s The Odyssey, an adaptation by Mary Zimmerman based on the translation by Robert Fitzgerald. Taproot's 2010 season was deemed "one of its most successful seasons yet"; the theater served over 35,800 ticketholders in 2010 through its Mainstage performances; the theater's Road Company toured to 170 schools across the Pacific Northwest, reaching over 87,000 kids through 211 performances; the Acting Studio reached an all-time high for onsite class attendance and broke records for summer and fall class enrollment.
