Countdown in Photos: Day 21
Seattlest will be counting down to 2011 with a series of posts on our highlights of this year and what we're looking forward to in the next. Got a list to suggest? Send it our way. See the entire series here.
I'm not sure if I've clued you in yet, but this was probably one of the most incredible years of my life. One minute I'm unemployed and buying a Nikon D90 for fun and to play around shooting live shows. The next thing I know, it's October and I'm the music editor of Seattlest.com and I'm headed to Key Arena to shoot the Gorillaz.
There were lots of little leaps and mostly being in the right place at the right time, but there I was walking down to the belly of the Arena, being escorted by PR and security to make sure we don't get into any trouble. We stood behind a huge curtain until the artists came on stage. Then we were quickly ushered in, snapped some photos, then just as quickly we were ushered out. It was honestly one of the biggest thrills of my life. Being a rock photographer is almost like being a rock star. The adrenaline of being up close and personal, trying to grab that one amazing shot with crappy lighting, moving subjects, and about twenty other photographers hoping to capture the same thing. It's insanity and I LOVE it.
