Dust off your Santa suit and get ready to get rowdy! Whether you know this infamous event as Santarchy or Santacon, the Seattle version of this jolly drinking event is kicking off at half past noon in Fremont this Saturday. All you need to participate is a Santa outfit! If you're in need of a Santa costume, check out your local Goodwill or Value Village, or this list of Seattle costume shops.
According to the official Santarchy website, this event got started in 1994 in San Francisco, and is now an annual event happening in cities throughout the world. Santarchy does not officially condone vandalism or violence, and it is not a protest against Christmas or commercialization; it is simply a bunch of santas coming together to drink and be merry.
No official route locations have yet been announced, but it's a safe bet that all you need to do is be on the lookout for a raucous crowd of red if you happen to join in later. Even if you're not participating, keep an eye out for thousands of drunken Santas parading through Fremont--and beyond.
For more information on SantaCon, check out the official website, and RSVP on the Seattle Santacon Facebook Invite.
