Countdown in Photos: Day 16

Seattlest will be counting down to 2011 with a series of posts on our highlights of this year and what we're looking forward to in the next. Got a list to suggest? Send it our way. See the entire series here.

As Matt let slip earlier the The Head and the Heart have officially signed to Sub Pop. In the not so small music community of Seattle, I can personally attest to hearts bursting with pride throughout the city today. I remember the first time I saw them perform together. It was as an opening act to Hey Marseilles' sold out show at the Tractor Tavern in May. I was really looking forward to the show since a good friend over at Sound on the Sound had sung their praises over and over. I remember their stage presence being so sweet and the enchanting smiles that were stuck on their faces the entire set. Since then they've only gotten better. The love we have for them doesn't stop at the city limits. They went on tour recently and were met with just as much adoration as they find in their "home town".

Recently they played an epic show sandwiched between Damien Jurado and David Bazan at the Showbox. You couldn't have asked for a more amazing bill than this, the whole night had everyone feeling quite proud (and lucky) to be a part of the Seattle music scene. The shot below is one that I've been trying to get of the group for some time but always seem to get a mic stand in the way or someone's face is complete obscured. I wish I could portray just how much love and energy is passed around at one of their shows, but this is the best I can do... for now. I'm not going to stop trying.
